OY5105B 1000LBS Balanced-Arm Pick Up Crane

The OY5105B is the balanced-arm configuration in the 1000 LBS pick-up crane series, featuring a boom design with integrated counterweight geometry that reduces the effective tip-forward moment of the crane under load. When a standard-boom crane lifts a load at full extension, the entire load moment is applied at the boom pivot joint and transferred to the front stabilizer legs—creating a significant forward tipping tendency that requires the rear legs to generate a counteracting moment. The OY5105B's balanced-arm geometry positions additional structural mass rearward of the boom pivot, partially offsetting the forward load moment and reducing the net tipping force on the stabilizer system.
The practical result is improved rear-leg stability under full load at maximum boom extension, which allows the crane to be used safely on slightly less-than-perfect floor surfaces without the rear legs risking lift-off. It also reduces the total floor reaction force on the front stabilizer legs, extending the service life of the front leg-to-base joint by reducing the cyclic load it must absorb on each lift.
