The Standard 0.5Ton Engine Support is the primary model in the engine support bar range, rated for the majority of production automotive engines and covering the widest variety of passenger car engine bays with an adjustment range of 730–1480 mm. This span accommodates everything from compact hatchbacks to full-size family sedans.
At 0.5 ton capacity, the OY2502 can safely support most four-cylinder and many six-cylinder engines during operations that require the engine to remain in the vehicle while work is carried out below—including gearbox removal, subframe dropping, and transmission service. The 0.5-ton rating represents the practically useful capacity for the vast majority of these operations on modern passenger car platforms.
The bar body is manufactured from steel section with a protective surface treatment that resists the oil, coolant, and brake fluid contamination common in the engine bay environment. The load hooks are heat-treated for strength and include a safety latch that prevents the chain from jumping off during lifting—an essential safety feature when the engine is suspended over the transmission or subframe that is being removed.
Adjustment across the 730–1480 mm range uses a sliding sleeve with a locking pin system that allows the bar length to be set without tools and locked positively before any load is applied. The large number of locking positions within this range ensures that precise fit is achievable across the full vehicle range the bar is intended to cover.
